Elite/Noble Shungite – How to choose and value it.

We wanted to add some extra information on the most highly prized form of Shungite to help you when you are investing in this remarkable mineral.

So, let’s start with the basics and then move on to how to compare and value different pieces of Elite.

Elite Shungite is the rarest and most highly valued of all the different varieties of Shungite. Elite has the highest percentage of Fullerenes, with approximately 98% carbon content. Why is this important?

1. Fullerene Content: Elite shungite contains a higher concentration of fullerenes, unique hollow carbon molecules known for their antioxidant properties. Scientific studies suggest that fullerenes may have potential health benefits, including antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.
2. Water Purification: One of the well-established uses of elite shungite is in water purification. The high carbon content and unique molecular structure of elite shungite effectively absorb impurities, contaminants, and organic substances from water. This can result in cleaner and potentially healthier drinking water.
3. Electromagnetic Radiation Absorption: Like other forms of shungite, Elite Shungite can absorb and neutralize electromagnetic radiation. How to value and compare different pieces of Elite;

Placing a value when purchasing any mineral or crystal is the trickiest part. Unless you have a depth of knowledge in these areas, you may assume the same gram weight of Elite ( or any other crystal ) is the primary way to value it. There are better or more accurate methods than this. I’m sure you have been to other retailers’ websites and compared what we may offer and what they offer. It’s what I do when I am making a significant purchase. The only negative here is that each piece’s quality and uniqueness have yet to be considered. It is the most crucial part of looking at Shungite, especially Elite. There is such a vast difference in the quality and grades of Elite depending on the vein of Shungite where the Elite is mined. It is also reasonable to expect that the larger the piece, the higher the cost, most of the time! The only exception is the grade, as we explained above. Generally, though, if you are above 2kg, you are really in the ” rare as hen’s teeth ” category and will pay a premium because there is no telling when another piece of this size will be found intact. When ELite is mined, it is done so by hand. This is mainly because it is so easily breakable. When they find a super large piece and can extract it from the ground without causing damage to it, it is remarkable! These pieces will only grow in value as they become more and more rare!

Some pieces of Elite are so incomparable to any other piece that they demand a special price. See the main picture as a perfect example! This piece is entirely natural yet looks like a carved skull. We had this piece for a very short time before a customer purchased it. It was more expensive than a different piece of the same weight for the reasons we are explaining. We have been lucky enough to have had a few of these pieces offered to us by our suppliers, and we have enjoyed them while we had them! We have also kept a couple because we couldn’t sell them! If you find a piece with rainbows through it, you know it is also one of those exceptional offerings! Dont go past it! Also, look for the divine conchoidal patterns that are unique to Elite. These can vary widely, but you will know when you see one that is breathtaking!

When we purchase from our suppliers in Russia, we always look firstly at the grade of Elite, not just its weight and price. Sometimes, you may see similar-sized pieces with a different cost per gram on different retailers’ websites. The quality and grade are very different sometimes. If we receive a slightly lower grade of Elite, we will price it accordingly. We will also charge differently if we receive a high-grade Elite piece. When you collect Elite, you are investing, and if possible, try to look for the absolute best in the range that you can afford, as this is the one that will grow in value over time.
